Cloud computing is the on demand delivery of various cloud services such as compute, storage and many more IT resources over the internet with pay as you go business model. We can easily lease the remote server, instead of buying a physical server or computer. We can leverage the compute power, storage and databases, on an requirement basis from different cloud providers like Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Google etc.
Irrespective to their sizes, many companies these days relying on cloud computing for several applications such as virtual desktops, disaster recovery, big data analytics, storage, data backups, machine learning for forecasting, predictions and many more. For instance, in order to prevent real time fraudulent transactions, banks and financial institutions also depending on cloud computing. Depending on cloud computing allows the companies to be agile in their business development life cycle. At the initial phases of project developments, companies need to setup a big picture and roadmaps for all the necessary resources needed, based on the customer requirements. At this phase, companies need to invest a lot of time on capacity planning, management etc. Buying pysical hardware, software and setting them up will be going to take several months. In order to overcome this drawback companies can start adopting cloud computing to provison and deploy resources and in future if we need to expand or reduce the resources, cloud services are more flexible in scaling up and down. This helps the companies to quickly experiment even with new ideas.
By taking advantage of cloud computing, gives companies a freedom to access numerous technologies which enables faster deployment and innovation. Elasticity is going to be increased from cloud computing as we are avoiding over provisioning of resources with scaling up or down our infrastructure which directly reduces cost and helps in best utilization of available resources. Public cloud providers are updating their platforms day by day in order to bring better user experience to setup and use the cloud services. Companies can deploy these services in any corner of the planet in minutes by leveraging cloud, as they are currently available in different regions and zones. For example AWS services are availble in more than 69 availability zones and 22 geographical regions all over the world.
In the coming future, companies will be going to concentrate more on the business logics rather then infrastructure requirements by taking advantage of Infrastructure as a service (IaaS), Platform as a service (PaaS) and Software as a service (SaaS) . Elimination of physical infrastructure and setting up virtual infrastructure will accelerates the digital transformation.
